Dr. Harold “Hackie” Reitman is a recently retired Orthopaedic Surgeon from greater Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Dr. Reitman completed the Boston University Orthopaedic Surgery Residency Program and became a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, as well as a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. Dr. Reitman is the founder and former Chief Executive Officer of Orthopaedic Associates USA, which is one of the premier Orthopaedic Surgery Multispecialty Groups in the Southeast. Since its inception, the goal of this group is to provide excellence in orthopaedics and sports medicine treatment. Sports medicine and arthroscopic surgery of the knee are Dr. Reitman’s specialties. He still maintains the position of Clinical Assistant Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery at Boston University School of Medicine in the Departments of Anatomy and Orthopaedic Surgery. On Sept. 17, 2007, Dr. Reitman delivered his annual lectures to the first year medical school class for the 32nd consecutive year. “Hackie” Reitman is a spokesperson, Board Member and past Chairman for the Boys and Girls Clubs of Broward County. His honors include the Irish Emerald Society 2000 Humanitarian of the Year, the 2002 Healthy Mothers-Healthy Babies Honorary ‘Mr. Mom’ Award, and he is the recipient of the Florida Medical Association’s 2002 Harold S. Strasser, M.D. Good Samaritan Award. He received a Certificate of Appreciation from the Board of County Commissioners in recognition of his work in the community. On October 15th, 2002, he was inducted into the Broward County Sports Hall of Fame. Nov. 16, 2007 Dr. Reitman was honored as an outstanding leader by Leadership Broward. Presently, Dr. Reitman’s pursuits include screenwriting, movie production, TV, land development, real estate, human performance, internet development, child advocacy, writing, teaching and mentoring. He hopes to bring attention to children’s issues through his movie and TV screenwriting and production. His daughter, Rebecca Reitman, has served as his inspiration, and is now a senior at Georgia Tech, majoring in discrete mathematics. Dr. Reitman is co-inventor of The Center for Athletic Performance Enhancement (United States Patent 6461162), which is under business development. As a long time family friend, Hackie also serves as advisor to Notre Dame All-American football player and professional heavyweight boxer Tommy Zbikowski. Hackie is the founder and managing partner of Milestone LLLP, the multifamily rental apartment development company in greater Denver, Colorado. Dr. Reitman also serves on the Governing Advisory Board for the American Heritage Schools in Florida. He is the founder of Prochild Elder Entertainment LLC. “Hackie” was also a 10 round main event, professional heavyweight boxer with a professional record of 13 wins (11 by knockout)- 7 losses – and 6 draws. Dr. Reitman donated all of his fight purses to various children’s charities. Hackie has sparred with 38 world champions over his long boxing career. His last pro 10 round bout took place in 2002.
